About The Position

The Boeing Defense Space, and Security (BDS), Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) has an exciting opportunity for an innovative, highly motivated, people focused, and growth motivated Manufacturing Engineer, Mid-Career or Senior Level to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG). ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is a fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently launched on its 8th mission. This position is 100% onsite at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. At Boeing, our Manufacturing Engineers are leaders in innovation, development, evaluation, and implementation of methods and systems in support of complex manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • An advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor)
  • Level 3: Typically, 5 or more years' related work experience
  • Experience defining, developing and implementing manufacturing build plans
  • Ability to work 2nd Shift
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • An interim U.S. Top Secret Clearance/SCI Pre-Start and final U.S. Top Secret Clearance/SCI Post-Start is required.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

  • Experience creating Model Based Instruction (MBI)

Responsibilities

  • Develop, identify, and implement conceptual designs while maintaining the program architecture for build.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines.
  • Lead and implement manufacturing plans.
  • Conduct producibility and variation analyses to ensure manufacturing process capability aligns with requirements.
  • Analyze design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions.
  • Develop and implement production and tooling methodologies.
  • Assist in providing producibility information for project plans and document best practices.
  • Resolve technical problems that significantly impact performance, cost, or schedule.
  • Coordinate and implement new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies, and concepts.
  • Validate and ensure production readiness of solutions to complex problems.
  • Implement lean principles and technologies
  • Develops and maintains complex business system factory definition to be used for manufacturing planning.
  • Partnering with other organizations in the evaluation and refinement of program goals, business objectives, decision support needs, and both the data and performance requirements to meet program/project level objectives.
