Manufacturing Engineer, Model-Based Definition

Hadrian Automation•Torrance, CA
•$150,000 - $211,000

About The Position

Hadrian is building a team that converts legacy technical data—including scanned and hand-marked prints and their associated requirements—into model-based definition (MBD). Its software performs much of the conversion, while engineers review and complete the results. The Manufacturing Engineer, MBD, manually handles the most challenging customer packages, and uses the resulting experience to shape the software and team processes. Senior engineers in this role also establish definition standards and collaborate with the software team on tool requirements.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of industry experience in CAD modeling, focused on drawings and product definition, such as MBD authoring, drawing checking, or legacy-data conversion.
  • Ability to interpret messy legacy prints covering welding, assembly, NDT, and machining callouts, including weld and NDT symbols per AWS A2.4, and resolve ambiguity using referenced specifications and engineering reports.
  • Knowledge of GD&T to ASME Y14.5 and MBD/PMI to Y14.41 sufficient to author definitions usable directly by manufacturing and inspection.
  • Experience with Teamcenter or a comparable PLM system, including assembly structure, part numbering, and release workflows.
  • Ability to review another engineer’s work and turn recurring errors into preventive checks.
  • To meet ITAR requirements, must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep Teamcenter experience, including how product definition is structured and governed in the system.
  • Experience writing requirements that a software team built against, as an expert user of the tool.
  • CATIA or NX experience, including a legacy-to-PLM migration such as CATIA to Teamcenter.
  • Experience defining a process that a larger team subsequently ran in a fast, low-process environment.
  • Submarine, naval, or defense-program drawing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Process customer packages involving welding, assembly, NDT, and machining requirements, and author those requirements onto models as linked MBD.
  • Review software-generated output, correct errors, and report error types to the software team.
  • Help define standard workflows and quality checks that enable a larger team to perform the work using the software.
  • Review other engineers’ work against the definition standard.
  • Train engineers and specialists joining the team.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees.
  • 401k.
  • Relocation support may be provided in certain situations based on business need.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
  • Equity.
