About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for creating and maintaining work definitions for product manufacturing, including routings and time studies. This role involves developing and updating work instructions for technicians, engaging in product automation, and collaborating with design engineers to enhance product quality, cycle time, and customer satisfaction. The engineer will also be responsible for developing processes and instructions, calculating production costs, designing new manufacturing methodologies, conducting feasibility studies, and improving manufacturing efficiency. Daily interaction with in-house and customer engineering teams is expected for problem resolution and product stabilization. The role includes introducing products to production, following them through the entire process, and partnering with customer engineers on change orders and product sustainment. Guidance to technicians and mentoring of junior engineers are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

Applied knowledge of related manufacturing operations
Experience with machining processes, ideally stainless steel, welding operations
Proficient with Solidworks
Experience designing and improving mechanical fixtures
Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
3-5+ years manufacturing, engineering or related work experience
Bachelors degree in engineering is required

Nice To Haves

Experience with Thermoforming processes would be preferred
Lean/5S/KanBan experience preferred
GD&T experience is very desirable

Responsibilities

Create and maintain work definition for product manufacturing, including routings and time studies.
Develop and update work instructions for technicians.
Engage in product automation tasks.
Work with design engineers to update designs for improved quality, cycle time, and customer satisfaction.
Develop processes and process instructions by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, and conferring with equipment vendors.
Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; and estimating future requirements.
Design and implement new manufacturing methodologies for material handling, machining, assembly, etc.
Conduct feasibility studies of processes to determine manufacturing integrity.
Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow.
Interface daily with in-house and customer engineering teams to identify/resolve problems and implement solutions to stabilize product.
Introduce products into the production areas and follow products through the entire process.
Partner with customer engineers to review, communicate and implement engineering change orders and sustain products with cost reduction and yield improvements.
Provide guidance to technicians or others within the department.
Work independently with minimal supervision and periodically mentor junior engineers.
