Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Electrical or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a similar role
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and coach a team of young engineers
  • Proficient in CAD software (2D and 3D) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and deliverables
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decisions.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with in-depth knowledge of manufacturing equipment, processes, and drawing interpretation.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate across all levels of an organization.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality results.

  • Experience with IFS or other ERP systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of manufacturing engineers, specialists, and technicians through the successful completion of ME projects
  • Provide meaningful coaching, leadership, and feedback to the engineering team
  • Lead the specification, financial justification, and implementation of new machinery, automation solutions, and strategic-level process improvements
  • Coordinate and manage manufacturing support projects, including documentation updates, quality investigations, safety improvements and continuous improvement efforts
  • Identify and spearhead initiatives to resolve equipment and process safety hazards, ensuring compliance with CSA standards and company safety policies
  • Design and implement safety guards, fixtures, tools, machine modifications, and other production implements, including creating shop drawings for parts and assemblies
  • Develop and maintain work cell, operations and routing information in ERP systems
  • Lead machine and cell moves, commissioning, and decommissioning efforts, coordinating with contractors, maintenance teams, and production
  • Support product launches and changes, including conducting product costing analyses and overseeing the implementation of changes in production
  • Provide production support through machinery troubleshooting, testing, and documentation
  • Champion lean manufacturing initiatives and participate in Kaizen activities, topics including 5S, line balancing, waste reduction, and time studies
  • Maintain and optimize shop floor layouts using 2D CAD software
  • Assist maintenance and production teams with setting up preventative maintenance procedures
  • Maintain a high level of personal project management, ensuring documentation of all project decisions, communications, and technical information, while balancing project requirements with leadership responsibilities
