About The Position

This is hands-on technical work involving the injection molding of plastic parts for automotive interior trim, full center consoles, and kinetic parts. Under general supervision, provides technical support and leadership to manufacturing production teams with a focus on operational excellence each and every day. Responsibilities include injection mold processing, molding automation and end of arm tooling, and supporting injection mold tooling.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical discipline OR 5 years of experience in a technical position in an injection molding environment
• Scientific injection molding knowledge and hands on mold process development ability
• Molding automation / EOAT knowledge and hands on molding robot programming ability
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Independent thinking with strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
• Agreement to complete all post-hire required training
• A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment (Traditional Score of 26 on the cognitive portion).

Nice To Haves

• Krauss Maffei and VanDorn molding machine experience preferred
• Wittmann robot experience preferred
• Knowledge of a variety of molding technologies including gas-assist, sequential valve gate processing, applique insert molding, and two-shot / multi-material molding preferred
• Knowledge of injection mold design with ability to read and critique drawings and contribute to ensuring high quality mold designs

Responsibilities

• Perform as key team member in developing molding tool & processes for new products
• Develop molding automation plan and tooling
• Participate in injection mold trials at sample facilities
• Champion introduction of molding tools and processes at SPI manufacturing plant
• Support and continually improve all production molding operations
• Contribute to molding room safety
