About The Position

Allen Control Systems (ACS) is scaling its manufacturing team and is looking for Manufacturing Engineers with a Mechanical Focus at all experience levels. ACS is a defense startup developing an autonomous gun turret using advanced computer vision and control systems. The company is seeking problem-solvers who thrive on the production floor, understand mechanical assembly, and want to own the process of bringing designs to life.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
Entry Level: 0–4 years of experience (hands-on internships, Formula SAE, robotics clubs, or personal mechanical projects are valued).
Mid-to-Senior Level: 5+ years of experience (experience leading line setups, mentoring junior engineers, or managing vendor integrations is preferred).
Strong mechanical aptitude, understanding of tolerances, material behavior, and shop tool usage.
Comfortable opening CAD models for measurements or making minor drawing edits.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to devise practical, physical solutions.
Effective communication skills, able to interact with technicians and provide technical updates to leadership.

Responsibilities

Set up and organize assembly stations, determining the necessary tools, jigs, and fixtures for smooth and repeatable assembly.
Analyze the robot building process to identify opportunities for improvement in speed, safety, or ergonomics.
Serve as a liaison between Design engineers and the Production team, translating blueprints into clear instructions.
Troubleshoot mechanical failures on the assembly line, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
Manage the setup and maintenance of manufacturing hardware, including hand tools and automated assembly equipment.
Identify areas of material or time waste and propose mechanical solutions for process optimization.
