About The Position

In this role your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve. You will be responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process. You will required to use your independent discernment. Manage a medium-to-large team of Controls Engineers, Process Engineers, Industrial Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers supporting production departments

Requirements

Strong People Leader
7 years manufacturing leadership
Bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science or equivalent Engineering Degree
Launch experience or Execution experience preferred
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusually difficult
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
High level of written and oral communication skills
High level of computer and technical skills
High level of plant floor and controls system troubleshooting skills
Ability to work off-shift and over-time as needed

Responsibilities

Responsible for management of Controls Engineering and Process Engineering support on three shifts in all departments
Participate in functional area plant meetings to represent Manufacturing Engineering and assist in improving the plant’s performance
Communicate issues to proper parties within affected departments
Provide technical support, direction, and training to maintenance and tech support personnel in the production departments
Investigate system and equipment problems to provide technical input for problem resolution
You will handle engineering projects with plants and/or Manufacturing Engineering Staffs
Work with Vehicle Systems engineers at Headquarters to promote common systems, implement best practices and resolve issues
Communicate project requirements to plant staffs and coordinate associated engineering activity
Provide input of the Manufacturing Engineering plant budget, plan NPP, start up and pre-production funding forecasts and appropriate request estimates
Develop capacity planning, cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, appropriation requests and plans for other minor projects
Coordinate with departmental tech support engineers and Headquarters Vehicle Systems engineers on new model process and equipment planning, including model changes, throughput improvements, sourcing, etc.
Assist in the development of project support plans between plant, headquarters, and contractor resources (including paragraph 183 contractual requirements)
Assure implementation of common electrical designs and GACCL component use for new or revised tooling, process equipment, and conveyors
Maintain proficiency in his/her field
Function as site-wide expert contact/resource for engineering issues
Support, develop, and implement LMS support systems and global error proofing strategies
Enforce safe work practices as the highest priority, implement objectives for health/safety and ESWP initiatives, and chair plant safety lockout committee
Maintain good working relationships with peers, hourly employees, union management, supplier community and interface with support functions outside of the assembly plant as required
Develop project planning timetables and report progress to affected departments
Ensure long term, cost effective maintenance of equipment and facilities
Acts as plant liaison with Vehicle System Central Manufacturing Engineering at Headquarters
Manage projects to minimize investment cost while providing conveyors, equipment and facilities that require a minimum operating cost (with maximum throughput, energy efficiency, etc.)
Lead plant asset team and plan asset management
Owns various WSS, workplace safety system, and PS, performance standard, safety processes.
