About The Position

Our Manufacturing Engineering team plays a critical role in transforming our facilities, processes, and systems to support safe, high-quality, and efficient production. As a Manufacturing Engineer Lead, you will lead and provide direction to a team responsible for manufacturing engineering execution within the Rochester site. This role is ideal for a proven leader who can drive operational excellence, support plant objectives, and develop engineering talent while partnering cross-functionally across manufacturing, quality, maintenance, operations, and launch teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering and/or manufacturing/maintenance leadership experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as project execution engineer for multiple machine builds
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Understanding/experience developing manufacturing process documentation (PFD, PFMEA, PCP)
  • Knowledge of Gage R&R/MSA
  • Experience conducting Risk assessments
  • Microsoft Office
  • Safety certifications
  • Experience developing business cases
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes – metal forming, metal/plastic welding, plastic molding, brazing, leak testing
  • CAD (Solidworks) or machine programming background (Rockwell)
  • Experience with vision systems
  • Experience with robotics

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the selection of new employees
  • Train, develop and evaluate employees
  • Establish overall group objectives
  • Evaluate processes and procedures within area
  • Establish and oversee required tooling activities or review and evaluate proposals for existing and new manufacturing processes
  • Develop and execute long-range plans for improvements of processes and manufacturing activities
  • Provide technical assistance to maintain manufacturing performance
  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards
  • Maintain Corporate and unit management control systems
  • Understand and convey impact to Process Control Plan/Quality plan
  • Develop capital estimates for input to business case
  • Develop and submit machinery and equipment (M&E) specification
  • Work with Purchasing and supply base to source M&E
  • Conduct safety risk assessment for new M&E and processes
  • Provide installation requirements and support installation of new or relocated M&E
  • Oversee and approve machine qualifications and gage R&R/MSA activities
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Product Engineering, HR, Skilled Trades, Purchasing, Suppliers and Customers to effectively address business issues and support future programs/projects
  • Develop working relationship with UAW skilled trades and UAW leadership
