About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern position will support the Manufacturing Engineering Team through various projects and daily tasks.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or related field, required.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret manufacturing and engineering documents.
  • Formalized training or experience in 3D modeling and drafting (Solidworks Preferred)
  • Must be team oriented and possess strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel).
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes required, including fabrication, weld and assembly.
  • Must be results oriented, energetic, proactive, and a team player.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels within an organization.
  • Ability to effectively decompose a costing to identify the root cause(s) of costs and to present information succinctly for discussion with senior management.
  • When working with less than perfect information, the ability to make appropriate assumptions and backup the assumptions with data.

Nice To Haves

  • Formalized training or experience in "design for manufacturing" preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design manufacturing aids such as weld fixtures, assembly fixtures, and material handling devices.
  • Update Engineering Designs and Drawings to improve product manufacturability.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects that improve Safety, Quality or Efficiency.
  • Perform inspections on production parts and fixtures to determine root cause of issues and validate design tolerances.
  • Gather data for problem solving and new process development projects.
  • Utilize technical skills/knowledge to improve the production capabilities of the manufacturing facility.
  • Test and evaluate products, or processes and implement changes to improve performance and reliability.
  • Work with cross-functional team members, providing engineering support to resolve technical problems.
  • Analyze technical problems related to the development of new or existing products or processes and recommend solutions.
  • Develops, prepares and/or reviews engineering plans and designs for the manufacturing facility that pertains to plant layout and/or equipment improvements.
  • Develops, prepares and reviews reports and studies to identify and recommend engineering solutions.
  • Performs engineering inspections of systems operations and of structures and facilities during construction.
  • Demonstrates a good attendance record; is aware of the impact that missing work will have on the customer as well as co-workers.
  • Completes goals/projects on time or ahead of schedule.
  • Responds to work assignments and requests by being cooperative and available.
