About The Position

Do you enjoy collaborating with others to create innovative products and services? As a Manufacturing Engineer III, you will act with minimal supervision to drive the strategic implementation, driving the strategic implementation of world-class manufacturing engineering principles. You will lead the Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) strategy for complex aerospace systems and direct the design and implementation of advanced tooling to achieve optimal performance, quality, and cost. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
  • Advanced proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software and process documentation.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Capability working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with automation and robotics in manufacturing.
  • Background in Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Familiarity in applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to, parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes.
  • Participation in dispositions of Non-Conformance generation through a Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Experience with new product introduction and transition to production.
  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes.
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews and DFM/DFA workshops to ensure product architecture is fully optimized for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of complex tooling, from initial concept and design to fabrication, validation, and implementation on the production floor.
  • Analyze and resolve complex manufacturing issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
  • Mentor junior engineers on best practices in tooling design, process validation, and manufacturing engineering principles.
