About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking a manufacturing engineer who can creatively apply engineering knowledge to efficiently solve complex manufacturing problems to support the production of sensors in the Ice, Rain, and Stall (IRS) product portfolio. This position will require interfacing with other manufacturing engineers, production leaders, maintenance, purchasing, quality, production operators, design engineers and program management. The challenges and opportunities are unlimited for this position. This is an onsite role that will put you right where the action is! Our ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic learner with a bias for action that works well with other engineers and values collaboration. Manufacturing can be a dynamic environment with constantly shifting priorities. Candidates that are adaptable to this environment and are quick learners will be given preference for this position.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the technical liaison to production. Directly providing support to production operators and technicians in the form of technical advice, fixture design, and work instructions.
  • Maintain production documentation on each process, including manufacturing documents and production process routings.
  • Make changes in assembly processes, equipment procedures, and design specifications to solve equipment and manufacturing problems.
  • Use data analytics/SPC for productivity, First Pass Yield and OEE targets and improvements.
  • Attain Material Dispositioning signature authority (MRB and ASL).
  • Become proficient in identifying common defects and issues for assigned processes and learn the proper mitigations for those defects and issues.
  • Learn to use the appropriate metrology tools required by assigned processes.
  • Become proficient in key operations software such as SAP, Creo, and Teamcenter.
  • Support the development of new products and processes.
  • Identify and execute projects to reduce scrap, rework, and repair costs.
  • Actively seek out new technologies to improve current processes.
  • Drive problem solving initiatives & challenge status QUO (C/A Investigations, OEE, FPY, Customer escapes).
  • Participates and contributes on Process Flows, PFMEA and Control Plans.
  • Develop, design, and plan for assembly, fixture, and material handling.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to conform to standard factory and production procedures.
  • Plans sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Provides guidance for engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Properly document and report your work.
