About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) manufacturing facility in West Des Moines, IA. In this role, you will plan, design and execute activities that are directly related to the maintenance, repair & overhaul of Collins Aerospace products and the functional operation of Collins Aerospace facilities. This position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the production of high-performance aerospace components. This position supports our 2nd shift operations in West Des Moines, with typical hours of 3:30 PM–Midnight, Monday–Friday. However, the schedule may be adjusted to accommodate an earlier start time, as early as 1:00 PM–9:30 PM, based on preference. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.

Requirements

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

Nice To Haves

A thorough understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
Intermediate user of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). MS Project experience a plus.
Ability to work independently and with small teams.
Machining and/or assembly experience including fixture design, tooling design and Geometric Dimensioning/Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience with special processes including vacuum brazing, heat treat, TIG/laser welding and EDM.
Experience with 3D printing for tools and/or fixtures.
SAP experience is a plus.
Design modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred).

Responsibilities

Designs and develops manufacturing repair and overhaul processes for products, which may include new or revised processes.
Develops procedures for the economical product overhaul and repair in cooperation with the production department and FAA Repair Station requirements.
Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables; and services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.
May make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
Proposes the sequence of operations and installations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other processes, which may include disassembly/assembly and repairs, to ensure efficiency and optimize performance.
Participates in the development of manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control to ensure compliance and effective production.
Checks and validate that mandatory modifications, programs, and bulletins are incorporated or complied with, as required by the customer and the applicable regulatory requirements, to Ensure legal compliance and adherence to quality standards.
