This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, including Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. We are seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations team at Blue Origin. This role will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics specific to Production/Operations. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, skilled in resource management, and committed to high-quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines. Leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies, you will contribute to improving manufacturing techniques, ensuring Blue Origin’s continued innovation and excellence in aerospace engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role
  • Prior internship experience in areas of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures, automotive manufacturing or similar
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including knowledge of GD&T
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)
  • 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed.
  • Open to work extended hours if required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive is preferred
  • Hands on experience with building flight hardware
  • Experience working with Bill-of-materials and BOM reconciliation
  • Prior manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or automotive
  • Experience with design, development or production of launch vehicles or spacecraft
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices & principles
  • Proficient with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (Creo or CATIA V5)
  • Experience with AS9100 quality standards
  • Customer focused with a proven track record to work cooperatively with teams of different skills across large geographic distances
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, structures, etc.
  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DfM), design for assembly (DfA), design for test (DfT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration.
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin’s mission.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
  • Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.
  • Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space.
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
  • Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale.
