About The Position

Sargent Aerospace & Defense has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer I (MEI) to join our Marine Hydraulics team. This role involves modeling safe behavior, promoting continual improvement through Lean Six Sigma, supporting the ME team, interpreting and maintaining manufacturing process documentation, evaluating non-conforming products, providing technical data for business activities, participating in engineering analysis for root cause and corrective actions, identifying new methods to improve process capability and controls, defining manufacturing processes, maintaining detailed manufacturing instructions for complex products, designing tooling and fixtures, implementing process documentation, and actively participating in the engineering change process. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 1 year as a Manufacturing Engineer OR a Master's degree in Engineering OR an Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 3 years of manufacturing engineering related experience OR In Lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of manufacturing engineering related experience and High School diploma/GED
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, procedures and ensure blue print compliance
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T, schematics and relevant test and inspection equipment
  • Basic knowledge of solid modeling
  • Basic knowledge and utilization of Lean and Six Sigma Principles
  • Demonstrated and documented cost savings projects - annual savings 25k
  • Demonstrated hands on abilities through employment or personal projects
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in mechanical and/or hydraulic systems
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Aerospace, Defense or other regulated industry
  • Experience in the implementation/utilization of Lean and Six Sigma Principles
  • Lean/six sigma (yellow) belt certification

Responsibilities

  • Model safe behavior at all times
  • Promote a culture of Continual Improvement by utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies to drive quality improvements, reduce manufacturing cost, minimize waste and improve efficiency
  • Supports the ME team at all levels & operations with required technical and general support
  • Interpret and maintain manufacturing process documentation (i.e. routers, RWPs)
  • Evaluate non-conforming products
  • Provide technical data for front end business activities
  • Participate in Engineering analysis to determine Root Cause and implement Corrective Actions
  • Identify new methods to improve process capability, and increase process controls
  • Define manufacturing processes and maintain detailed manufacturing instructions for complex manufacturing products
  • Design tooling & fixtures for manufacturing and validation of product
  • Implement process documentation
  • Actively participate in the engineering change process
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
