About The Position

Moog Space and Defense Group is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer I to join their team in Blacksburg, Virginia. This role supports the Motors production line and Outsource Vendors, overseeing manufacturing process development with a domestic and international team. The engineer will be responsible for creating engineering and tool drawings, ordering and supporting manufacturing tooling, work instructions, labor standards, facility layout, quotes, and continuous improvement initiatives. They will also review and respond to requests for quotes, conduct mechanical and electrical manufacturing design reviews, and offer suggestions for manufacturability. The position requires travel domestically and internationally and adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements like ITAR. The engineer will provide performance reports to management and support technical discussions with suppliers. Cross-training in other areas is also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering field OR Bachelor's degree with relative work experience in a manufacturing environment OR an associate degree with 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing role.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience communicating with internal and external customers, coworkers, and other disciplines across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Work and maintain confidential information.
  • Support the Motors production line and Outsource Vendors.
  • Oversee the manufacturing process development with a domestic and international team.
  • Create engineering and tool drawings, order and support manufacturing tooling, work instructions, labor standards, facility layout, quotes and continuous improvement.
  • Review and respond to request for quotes on new orders.
  • Conduct mechanical and electrical manufacturing design reviews and offer improvement suggestions for manufacturability.
  • Travel off-Site travel domestically and internationally.
  • Enforce and follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements as they apply such as ITAR.
  • Provide reports to management on daily, weekly, and monthly performance to schedules and expenditures.
  • Support technical exchange discussions with suppliers and Moog.
  • Cross-train to help in other areas.
  • Complete any other tasks as assigned by direct supervisor or operations manager.
