This role will focus on driving continuous improvement projects using appropriate tools and techniques to optimize productivity in collaboration with global teams. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the safe design, including ergonomic attributes, of assembly equipment and cells. They will support New Product Development (NPD) teams to ensure manufacturing requirements are satisfied with efficient and capable processes. The role also involves ensuring compliance with regulatory procedures, including safety and quality within assembly and the wider WM, America Manufacturing Inc company. Responsibilities include arranging procurement of jigs and fixtures, manufacturing of assembly aids, and checking equipment for safety and performance. The engineer will oversee the specifying and purchasing of tools and gauges, provide front-line fault-finding and diagnostics on assembly equipment and processes, and assist in reporting and solving production problems and customer complaints. This position acts as a technical leader within the department, specifying and proposing cost justifications for new processes and equipment to improve productivity in collaboration with sending sites. They will advise on corrective actions, including visiting suppliers as required, and issue and ensure compliance with the ECO (Design Change) system. The role also involves producing and maintaining standard operating procedures with appropriate visual aids.
