About The Position

The CNC Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for New Part Introduction (NPI) & process optimization of machined components. This involves reviewing customer drawings & CAD models to ensure tolerances match process capability and providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to the customer. The engineer will work across functional departments such as Estimating, Customer Service, Production, Quality & Sales to support NPI. In addition to NPI this role will help improve existing processes on the shop floor to reduce cycle times, scrap or improve organization. This position will work in an Aerospace environment meeting AS9100 quality standards & in a machine shop that is CMMC 2.0 certified.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or associate’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Experience may be substituted in lieu of an engineering degree
  • Experience programming and operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and materials
  • Proficiency with CAD software for part modeling & engineering drawings
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in all windows based programs
  • Knowledge of quality control methodologies and manufacturing safety standards

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Solidworks for CAD, Esprit for CAM & Paperless Parts for quoting
  • Experience working in an AS9100 & CMMC 2.0 environment
  • Hands-on experience setting up horizontal mills, multi-axis lathes, swiss lathes & mill/turns
  • Experience with Okuma OSP & Fanuc machine controls
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience working directly with customers for DFM
  • Knowledge of how to use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python

Responsibilities

  • Program and optimize CNC machining processes to improve production efficiency and product quality.
  • Support NPI to meet customer deadlines, this can involve setting up the parts you program
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for machining defects or process deviations.
  • Maintain and update CNC machine documentation, including process parameters & tooling setups.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on reducing cycle times, tooling costs, and material waste.
  • Train and support production staff on CNC machine operation and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
