About The Position

SPX Technologies builds innovative solutions in HVAC and Detection and Measurement. Through their RiSE talent development framework, they focus on employee development. This role is responsible for optimizing production lines by designing, implementing, and improving assembly processes to maximize efficiency, quality, and safety. The position requires coordinating projects from inception to completion with minimal supervision, expertise in statistical analysis, Lean, EHS considerations, and Continuous Improvement (CI). Key activities include line balancing, developing business cases, creating visual factory displays, and making improvement recommendations.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing machine/assembly cells and factory layouts.
  • Understanding of inventory control techniques and the implications of BOM accuracy, inventory accuracy, and material transactions.
  • Understanding of the process of engineering revisions, change notices, deviations, and their impact on manufacturing.
  • Proven knowledge of process improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Strong mathematical ability to explain statistical analysis in simplified, business terms.
  • Proficiency in conducting time studies, data analysis, and cost estimation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams at all levels.
  • Ability to present data and recommendations verbally and in written form to management.
  • Proven experience with Lean techniques such as Kan-ban, pull, 5S, set up reduction, and visual factory (KPIs, pacing boards, EI).
  • Familiarity with project management principles and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as CAD and statistical analysis software.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, including developing summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes related to HVAC and heating systems.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing methods.
  • Familiarity with supply chain.
  • Familiarity with MRP planning and production scheduling techniques.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 and its application.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze reports and data to recommend changes in methods, tooling, and/or equipment to increase productivity, quality, and product value.
  • Perform detailed statistical analyses and create summaries concerning plant performance and facility layout.
  • Communicate manufacturing metrics (working capital, inventory, productivity, efficiency, order fill rate, on-time delivery) clearly.
  • Conduct Lean studies to gather data for rate development, line balancing, and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with management to understand production goals, providing technical guidance and statistical data for decision-making.
  • Determine machine and workforce requirements and make recommendations for business plans and forecasts.
  • Understand design for manufacturability techniques.
  • Participate in the design and development of new manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems.
  • Provide technical expertise on Lean methods, standard work, and production standards to maximize efficiency.
  • Investigate current manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
  • Determine feasibility of proposed projects and provide information for decision making.
  • Design and implement machine/assembly cells and factory layout.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinate and manage projects related to process improvement from planning to completion.
  • Work in cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of process improvements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented changes.
  • Lead teams and provide direction to production employees and technicians.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and recommend relevant improvements.
  • Complete other assigned projects related to department and organization goals.
