About The Position

Noveon is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Drafter to support its growing manufacturing operations. We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Drafter to support our manufacturing and parts production operations by creating detailed technical drawings, models, and production documentation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a manufacturing environment and can work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure accurate and efficient part designs.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Technical Certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 2–3 years of drafting experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks for 2D and 3D drafting/modeling.
  • Can read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, or assembly.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with creating detailed drawings for sheet metal, machined parts, and complex welded assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to ensure flawless manufacturing and assembly fitment.
  • Familiar with working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) or PDM/PLM document management software to track parts and engineering changes.
  • Background directly supporting production, manufacturing engineering, or prototyping teams to streamline assembly processes.
  • Acquainted utilizing, testing, or implementing AI-driven drafting tools, generative design features, or AI-based QA/QC markup software.
  • Possesses proactive interest in leveraging technology to automate repetitive drafting tasks, accelerate drawing reviews, and optimize overall throughput.
  • Familiar with creating SolidWorks macros, utilizing SolidWorks API, working with design automation tools (like DriveWorks), or writing simple automation scripts (e.g., Python, VBA) is a major plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interpreting engineering sketches, concepts, and specifications to develop precise 2D drawings and 3D models for manufactured parts and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Creating comprehensive fabrication drawings, detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), and clear work instructions.
  • Applying appropriate tolerances (GD&T) to ensure all drawings comply with company standards, manufacturing capabilities, and industry requirements.
  • Collaborating closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to support production processes, prototype development, and product improvements.
  • Assisting in diagnosing and solving design and production issues related to fabricated or machined parts on the shop floor.
  • Managing drawing revisions and engineering change notices (ECNs) within the company documentation control systems to ensure data integrity.
  • Maintaining strict organization of CAD files, templates, and associated technical documentation.
  • Identifying opportunities to integrate AI tools and automated macros into our current SolidWorks workflows to eliminate repetitive tasks and improve design speed.
  • Partnering with the team to test, evaluate, and adopt emerging AI drafting technologies and continuous improvement initiatives to boost overall manufacturing efficiency.
