Requirements

  • Post-Secondary diploma/certificate in Design, Digital Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • Experience in CNC machining processes
  • Experience with CAM programming concepts
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes
  • Strong knowledge of CAM programming concepts
  • Solid experience with HyperMill or similar feature‑recognition programming systems
  • Strong understanding of CAD model preparation and feature structuring (e.g., colors, naming conventions, assembly structure)
  • Basic knowledge of mould making processes
  • Strong analytical thinking and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong knowledge of Python API engine
  • Strong Knowledge of Open Source programs, NumPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in automation scripting within CAM software (e.g., HyperMill Automation Center, macros, templates)
  • Experience with process mapping, standardization, or workflow automation
  • Experience as a Designer, in Digital Manufacturing, or in Mechanical Engineering preferably in the Automotive Industry

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain automation wizards that support standardized machining processes across various departments
  • Build and refine HyperMill feature‑recognition workflows, smart macros, and smart tool libraries.
  • Integrate automation logic based on standardized feature colors, geometries, and machining strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design department to automate assembly models, feature libraries, and color‑coding standards
  • Ensure design libraries are structured to support downstream automation and feature recognition within CAM software
  • Provide guidance to Design on best practices for model preparation that maximize automation capability
  • Act as the primary liaison between Design, Machining, IT, and external automation partners/suppliers
  • Coordinate requirements gathering, testing cycles, and implementation timelines for automation projects
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and outcomes to stakeholders
  • Visit supplier, customer and inter-company locations as needed for training and investigational purposes
  • Analyze machining workflows to identify repetitive and high‑value automation opportunities
  • Define and maintain machining standards, color schemes, feature rules, and toolpath templates
  • Continuously improve automation logic based on shop‑floor feedback and real‑world performance data
  • Prepare work instructions/documentation as required for all processes
  • Provide training to various divisional personnel (i.e. programmers, designers, and machinists) on new automation tools, software, etc.
  • Support troubleshooting and refinement of automated processes as they are deployed
  • Share information, research, ideas across the team
  • Participate in monthly employee meetings, as needed
