About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Cost Estimator / Pricer to support our manufacturing company that produces unique components and assemblies for the defense industry. The Pricer will interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements; develop accurate bills of material and parts lists; resolve material, component, and obsolescence issues with customers; coordinate pricing with internal buyers; enter pricing information into the company's ERP system; and prepare professional quotes IAW the company's terms and conditions. This position requires strong technical comprehension, attention to detail, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple requests for quotation while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two or more years of experience in manufacturing estimating, purchasing, pricing, quoting, production planning, or a related function.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, specifications, and revision levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work accurately with part numbers, quantities, revisions, and pricing data.
  • Experience using an ERP system, manufacturing business system, or comparable software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PDF-based document preparation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple RFQs with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with buyers, finance, engineering, operations, and customers.

  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, electronics, precision machining, fabrication, or other contract manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working with build-to-print requirements.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing materials, purchased components, hardware, outside processing, and special processes.
  • Experience developing bills of material or detailed parts lists from engineering drawings.
  • Experience working with defense prime contractors or their suppliers.

  • Associate degree or technical coursework in manufacturing, engineering technology, business, supply chain, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer RFQs, engineering drawings, specifications, statements of work, and supporting documentation.
  • Break down drawings and technical documentation into a complete bill of material, parts list, or procurement requirements.
  • Identify raw materials, purchased components, hardware, outside processing, special processes, and other cost elements.
  • Determine whether quoted work is build-to-print, customer-designed, or subject to other classifications.
  • Identify missing, incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous information that could affect pricing, schedule, or manufacturability.
  • Confirm drawing revisions, specifications, quantities, quality requirements, and delivery timelines.
  • Communicate with customers regarding obsolete, unavailable, substituted, or difficult-to-source components.
  • Request clarification on technical and commercial issues affecting the quote.
  • Document customer responses, approved substitutions, assumptions, and clarifications.
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, purchasing, and operations as needed to resolve quote-related issues.
  • Ensure customer requirements and quote assumptions are accurately reflected in the final proposal.
  • Prepare accurate parts lists and purchasing requirements for the buying department.
  • Provide buyers with clear descriptions, part numbers, revisions, quantities, specifications, units of measure, and applicable quality requirements.
  • Review buyer-provided pricing for completeness and consistency with the RFQ.
  • Identify missing prices, unusual cost variances, minimum order quantities, lead-time concerns, and potential obsolescence risks.
  • Coordinate with buyers and internal stakeholders to obtain updated or corrected pricing when necessary.
  • Enter material, purchased-part, labor, outside-processing, and other required pricing information into the company's ERP system.
  • Verify that ERP entries accurately reflect the current RFQ, drawing revision, quantity, and quote assumptions.
  • Coordinate with Finance to ensure appropriate company rates, overhead, and other pricing factors are applied.
  • Prepare professional quotes using approved company formats.
  • Include applicable terms and conditions, delivery information, validity periods, assumptions, exclusions, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Perform a final review of all quotations before submission to ensure accuracy, completeness, and professional presentation.
  • Maintain organized quote files and supporting documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of RFQs, quote status, customer communications, assumptions, and approvals.
  • Support improvements to estimating, purchasing, ERP, and quote-generation processes.
  • Help develop and maintain standard estimating templates, checklists, and pricing databases.
  • Protect customer, company, and defense-related information in accordance with company policies and applicable contractual requirements.
  • Follow all applicable export-control, cybersecurity, quality, and record-retention procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
