About The Position

The Manufacturing Controls PLC Technician is responsible for installing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated systems within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimizes downtime, and supports continuous improvement initiatives across production operations. This position will work M-F - 2pm to 10:30 pm, (May require occasional Saturday or in event of emergencies).

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial automation environment.
  • 3+ years of Hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, including 24VDC, 120VAC, and 480VAC systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and control schematics.
  • Experience with HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
  • Proficiency using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with robotics (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA).
  • Knowledge of motion control systems and servo drives.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and cybersecurity practices.
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • OSHA safety training or certification.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Must be willing to be on call due to operations 24/7.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and facility equipment.
  • Install, program, and maintain PLC systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron).
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and automation-related issues on production equipment.
  • Diagnose faults in control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and networking components.
  • Modify and update PLC logic to improve machine efficiency and reliability.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on automated systems.
  • Support production teams by responding to equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Assist with commissioning new equipment and system upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system changes, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with engineers, maintenance staff, and production personnel to improve processes.
  • Train other personnel.
