About The Position

Valeo is a global automotive technology supplier focused on developing solutions for intuitive driving and reducing CO₂ emissions. The Manufacturing Controls Engineer supports manufacturing automation and process engineering, including the ramp-up, optimization, and standardization of manufacturing lines and testing systems. The role works with controls, robotics, motion control, vision systems, and electromechanical equipment, and contributes to cycle-time reduction and investment optimization. The position is part of Site Process/Manufacturing Engineering and handles additional assignments as directed by the Site Process Manufacturing Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronic Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline; experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • At least 4 years of PLC programming experience.
  • PLC programming experience in a high-speed industrial environment.

Nice To Haves

  • PLC programming experience, preferably with Allen-Bradley.
  • Experience with Fanuc, ABB, or Kuka robotic systems.
  • Experience using variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Experience with Keyence or Cognex vision systems.

Responsibilities

  • Program and troubleshoot automated robotic and vision systems using Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Modify and optimize existing PLC programs using IEC 61131-3 languages, particularly Ladder Diagram, for complex processes such as multi-station parallel processing and pick-and-place automation.
  • Oversee manufacturing-line ramp-up, including mechanical automation equipment, robotics, electromechanical systems, PLCs, motion control, and vision systems.
  • Work with high-speed motion control, Keyence and/or Cognex systems, and variable frequency drives.
  • Work in areas with 480 VAC and 24 VDC systems and ensure lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
  • Create process standards that support duplication of testing systems at different Valeo sites.
  • Reduce cycle time by resolving bottlenecks, generating savings, and optimizing investments.
  • Design and implement in-house control architectures integrating multiple PLCs, sensors, actuators, and other automation components.
  • Perform benchmarking and market analysis to track developments and trends and integrate them into mid-term actions.
  • Handle other assignments and functions assigned by the Site Process Manufacturing Manager.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits program as part of a total compensation package.
  • Career growth opportunities.
