About The Position

This role is responsible for the execution and development of manufacturing controls. The work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where considerable creativity, initiative, and a high level of independent judgment are exercised. This role is categorized as onsite and requires the successful candidate to report to Orion, MI on a full-time basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience or training
  • Controls experience in manufacturing environment (Controls Engineer)
  • PLC experience with ladder logic, and hardware design (Controls Engineer)

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years of PLC work experience (Controls Engineer)
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens
  • Mechatronics degree or training a benefit

Responsibilities

  • New program implementation/execution (SOR prep, forecasting, controls/robotics design, equipment build/run-off and buyoff)
  • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement
  • Maintaining awareness of new controls technologies (PLC, HMI, networks, robot, vision) of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high quality parts
  • Managing deliveries to program timing milestones
  • Providing project report outs to senior management
  • Existing program/site support (troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Providing technical direction to less experienced controls engineers.
  • Designing and troubleshooting of electrical controls systems
  • Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology
