This role involves operating PVD coating furnaces to coat carbide and Cermet inserts.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must be reliable and dependable.
• Ability to communicate safety, quality, and product issues with supervisor, team members and across shifts.

• 2 year technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate PVD coating furnaces to coat carbide and Cermet inserts.
• Load and unload fixtures with product into furnaces, ensuring correct setup and cleanliness.
• Enter product weights and coating cycle information into the computer.
• Start and monitor the coating process.
• Clean fixtures and base plates between heats.
• Ensure adequate gas supply and replace gas tanks as needed.
• Verify targets and melts are adequate for the process.
• Perform tests on standards to ensure coating thickness and adhesion meet specifications.
• Perform batch cleanings at proper intervals.
• Operate other equipment, including parts blasters.
• Set up and separate product.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area and equipment.
• Commit to working safely and understanding all safety procedures.
• Handle deviations in routine according to operating procedures and work instructions.
• Follow the inspection control plan to ensure product is processed according to routings and specifications.
• Meet daily departmental production goals.
• Communicate safety, quality, and product issues with supervisors, team members, and across shifts.
• Solve furnace-related problems using learned knowledge, reasoning skills, and by consulting supervisors and co-workers.
