About The Position

Galaxy Technologies is currently seeking a Manufacturing Buyer. This position is responsible for procuring the raw materials, components, equipment, offload, and production supplies necessary to maintain an uninterrupted manufacturing operation.

Requirements

  • At least 2 to 4 years of dedicated procurement experience operating specifically inside a precision machining or industrial production facility.
  • Exceptional attention to physical detail, mechanical aptitude, sharp commercial negotiation strategies, and an ability to make decisions under strict manufacturing deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in reading and parsing industrial 2D drawings, assembly diagrams, and mechanical symbols.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Engineering; or equivalent in manufacturing or purchasing, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute technical procurement: Translate engineering bills of material (BOMs) and technical requirements into purchase orders for industrial materials.
  • Analyze 2D Blueprint Specifications: Review and interpret 2D engineering blueprints, schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) markers to verify raw component compliance.
  • Source Industrial Suppliers: Research, interview, and audit vendors capable of supplying specialized manufacturing tooling and raw inputs.
  • Manage Material Continuity: Track material status through Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) suggestions to eliminate part shortages and maintain active factory schedules.
  • Negotiate Supply Contracts: Issue Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and negotiate pricing, lead times, and standard batch requirements with industrial suppliers.
  • Perform Quality Reconciliation: Collaborate with quality control teams to resolve vendor discrepancies regarding flawed components or out-of-tolerance parts.
  • Evaluate Financial Trade-Offs: Conduct standard-cost reviews and run detailed data calculations to advise leadership on "make vs. buy" production scenarios.
