About The Position

KML Windows Inc., a division of Andersen Corporation, is seeking a Manufacturing Associate II – Fabrication Operator on the Day Shift. This role will involve training and then working/rotating through Customs, Moulder and Toolroom positions. The Fabrication Operator will be responsible for ensuring that the machine properly cuts wood into the correct pre-cut sizes & shapes, as well machining/cutting new knives and setting tooling. This position is also responsible for making sure that we are maintaining our set Quality standards for Material and Machining.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of woodworking practices, standard tooling concepts, and machining techniques, including knowledge of general wood router concepts: speeds, feeds, material removal, HP
  • Able to read shop drawings and prepare tooling or machine new knifes for set runs
  • Understands buffer sheets and basic working knowledge of computer functions and keyboarding.
  • Proven ability to understand and adhere to all process controls as documented (SWDs, JBAs, CPs).
  • Ability to read and understand reports and a willingness to cross train on several operations.
  • Possess strong communication, teamwork, problem solving, and leadership skills and can take direction and follow instructions.
  • Has the ability to work independently and is dependable/punctual.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude with the ability to interact effectively with other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a safe manner and follow safe work practices and policies; Help ensure co-workers are working safely and following safety requirements.
  • Follow all applicable procedures, Standardized Work, Control Plans, Product Specification, and Clean-up times.
  • Operate the equipment in a safe and productive manner, including setting up, measuring, cleaning tools & cutters and maintaining sharp tooling.
  • Load programs into the computer/machines for operation of machine.
  • Understand & implement adjustments to the programs to achieve the required outcome per profile /head setup.
  • Work with the tool room/molder operator to determine proper machining methods and provide input into how the machine may best be utilized and perform maintenance to ensure the machines are operating properly.
  • Learn, understand, and implement Andersen Management Systems (AMS) and CI concepts.
  • Participate in defining and improving standard work.
  • Support and participate in Employee Engagement activities.
  • Work to an established rate as defined by customer demand and Standardized Work.
  • Engage in cross-training to maintain flexibility and adaptability to support resource planning.
  • Identify problems; communicate issues to Work Center Leads and Supervisors.
  • Assist with training co-workers.
  • Support a respectful workplace.
  • Perform other duties across the plant as needed as directed by supervision or management.
