About The Position

Under close supervision, this role is responsible for the operation of deburring machinery and material handling. The individual must meet Bobrick standards of safety, product quality, productivity, and policies, and continuously upgrade their job skills in keeping with changing technology. This position involves understanding and applying the Four Level Defect Grading System, monitoring and verifying work quality and quantity, and maintaining the production process. The trainee will perform part deburring utilizing automated equipment and assist with material handling operations. They will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment, performing pre-use equipment inspections, and stacking completed products. Proficiency in support side presses and fladder, as well as the ability to operate 221 cell press, welder, and cartoner machines, will be developed. To advance, the operator must achieve 90% or higher efficiency.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Must be able to communicate orally and in writing, giving clear and concise messages.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers of common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance and talk or hear.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 to over 100 pounds with assistance.
Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Required to wear personal protective equipment: eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, and safety sleeves.

Self-Balancing Flow manufacturing knowledge or experience is an asset.
Good knowledge of shop and safety practices is essential.

Responsibilities

Operate deburring machinery and perform material handling.
Understand and apply the Four Level Defect Grading System.
Seek out, report, and contribute to problem-solving for quality defects and errors.
Follow verbal instructions to ascertain equipment and set up required.
Monitor and verify that the quality and quantity of work performed meets Bobrick standards.
Select and set up air-operated hand tools and fixtures on a work bench.
Participate in and recommend new and improved work methods.
Assist with material handling operations.
Perform part deburring utilizing automated equipment.
Maintain the production process in a capable and aligned state and work towards continuous improvement.
Maintain a healthy and safe environment by keeping the work area clean, materials positioned correctly, and always following safe operating procedures.
Perform weekly pre-use inspection checklist on equipment.
Stack completed product on skids.
Demonstrate proficiency on support side presses and fladder.
Operate 221 cell press, welder, and cartoner machines.
