About The Position

This is a temporary to full-time position for a Manuel Machinist Lathe on the 1st shift, with a starting pay of $22.22 per hour for the first 1-3 months of training. A 15% shift premium will be added for 2nd or 3rd shifts. The role requires a proven understanding of machining principles, the ability to adjust machines based on helix angles and lead error, and the capability to track die usage and evaluate die condition. The machinist will also identify and communicate enhancements for product and productivity, work with material schedulers, and maintain compliance with company policies, safety, and housekeeping practices. An advanced level of job operating efficiency is expected, along with the ability to monitor and measure products to ensure adherence to tolerances and specifications. This position involves training new operators, working effectively in a team environment, prioritizing work efficiently, and performing basic upkeep and cleanliness of machines and the work area. Troubleshooting skills and a self-starter attitude are important, as is the ability to motivate co-workers for continuous quality improvement and to keep scrap and rework at minimal levels. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years proven experience.
  • Minimal layout capabilities.
  • Sound mechanical aptitude with hands-on skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read precision measuring equipment.
  • Capable of understanding and following routing information.
  • Basic knowledge of product.
  • Basic blueprint reading skills and programming knowledge or experience.
  • Basic set-up capabilities, tooling knowledge, understanding of feeds and speeds.
  • Overhead crane and fork truck experience required.
  • Basic understanding of gearing terminology.
  • Proven understanding of all machining principles.
  • Basic understanding of thread lead and helix angles.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability associated with being a self-starter.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate efforts to safely and efficiently produce product that meets all quality parameters.
