About The Position
Murphy’s Family Staffing is hiring a skilled Manual Machinist for a busy hydraulic repair and remanufacturing shop in York, PA. This role supports real industrial work — hydraulic cylinders, rods, pistons, glands, precision machining, repair machining, and rework. The shop is known for tackling large, high-stakes hydraulic components and quality-driven work. This is a strong long-term opportunity for a machinist who can think through a repair, hold tight tolerances, and confidently run manual lathes and mills.
Requirements
- Manual machining experience required (lathe + mill)
- Strong measuring skills and tolerance awareness
- Ability to read prints / interpret dimensions
- Mechanical mindset (repair work, not just repetitive parts)
- Reliable attendance (the team depends on you)
- Driver’s license + reliable transportation
Nice To Haves
- Experience with hydraulic cylinder repair/remanufacturing
- Experience machining large parts / heavy industrial components
- Background in shops doing repair work, not just production runs
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual engine lathes and manual mills (Bridgeport-style)
- Machine and repair hydraulic cylinder components (rods, pistons, glands, sleeves, etc.)
- Measure and hold tolerances using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges
- Read and work from prints, sketches, and dimensions
- Perform repair-style machining: fit-up, rework, salvage, and precision correction
- Maintain clean, safe work habits in a production/repair environment
