Our Components Division, located in Gorham, Maine is looking for an experienced Manual Machinist for either first or second shift. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 or more years of machining experience. Requirements
- 3 or more years' experience as a Manual Machinist Preferred
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures.
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Strong planning and documentation skills, detail focused
- Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven production environment.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations including converting fractions to decimals
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform physically active work
- Ability to interpret blueprints, setup sheets and work tickets
- Willingness to cross-train and adapt to shifting priorities
Responsibilities
- Experience with all machine shop operations to include: Effectively operate lathes, mills, Bridgeports, drill presses, routers, etc. (Including specialized production equipment after an instructional period).
- Prototrak/Centroid type controllers
- Set-up and fixturing for manual machines
- Ability to optimize feeds and speeds for all machining operations
- Maintain adjustment of machine(s) to produce consistent quality product
- Interpret specifications and blueprints required for manufacture and perform dimensional verification using appropriate measuring devices
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures
- Use of safe lifting techniques and lift-assist equipment as appropriate
- Perform preventive maintenance of machines and machine tools to maintain precision machining operations
- Machine “one-of-a-kind” pieces from blueprints or sketches
- Set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
- Calculate machine speed and feed ratios, and the size and position of cuts
- Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation
