We are looking for a skilled and reliable part-time manual knee mill operator to support production on an as-needed basis. This role requires a self-sufficient individual capable of independently setting up and operating manual milling equipment while maintaining high safety, quality, and efficiency standards. With both day and swing shifts available, this position is ideal for an experienced machinist seeking flexible hours within a high-end manufacturing environment. Our products include custom fire pits, water features, and planters for luxury commercial and residential projects. We maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility with a proven track record of compliance and employee protection. All tools and supplies are provided—no need to bring your own equipment. Requirements

  • Proven experience operating a manual knee mill (Bridgeport style preferred).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Solid understanding of machining fundamentals (speeds, feeds, tooling).
  • Experience working with common materials (aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, etc.).
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Reliable, punctual, and adaptable.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older due to the requirement to operate specific equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual knee mill to produce precision parts.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings and work instructions accurately.
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
  • Perform in-process inspections using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Maintain tight tolerances and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Deburr, clean, and finish parts as required.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Willingness to step in and support urgent or short notice jobs.
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
  • Able to maintain the pace of the production schedule.
  • Physical labor is a requirement of this position. Ability to work on feet all day and lift up to 75 pounds four feet in height.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, walk, kneel, squat, twist and reach above shoulders, and work in small spaces.
  • Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position.
