About The Position

GENERAL NATURE OF JOB : The primary function of the Mill Operator will be to break down raw product, and overstock on the Comerio/Roller Die mills. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Receive the proper instructions from Operator pertaining to the order to be run. Check the material ticket located on the skid for proper compound identification. Make sure that the number stamped on the compound is the same as the compound number located on the material ticket. The Mill Operator or Operator is responsible for pulling and setting up compound for next order. Make sure that the oldest mill dates are pulled and ran first. Make sure to give all ticket to the Operator to be scanned After set-up is made one Mill Operator will return to the mills to keep rubber loaded and a bank on the Comerio calenders. The other Mill Operator will continue to help the Comerio Operator start the product in the wind-up system, then return to the mills. Both Mill Operators will continue to monitor and keep a proper amount of rubber on the mills. When operating the mills, always use the proper tools such as a designated mill knife for cutting rubber down, and a calender knife for cutting rubber off of the skid. When cutting on mills to break down the rubber, always cut low and away from yourself. Be sure that rubber is broken down good before sending it to the calender.

  • Good knowledge of all safety procedures while operating machinery
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and work instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
  • Incumbent needs a basic understanding of computers and printers
  • Forklift certification required

Responsibilities

  • Break down raw product and overstock on the Comerio/Roller Die mills.
  • Receive instructions from Operator pertaining to the order to be run.
  • Check the material ticket for proper compound identification.
  • Ensure the compound number matches the material ticket.
  • Pull and set up compound for the next order.
  • Prioritize using the oldest mill dates first.
  • Provide all tickets to the Operator to be scanned.
  • Keep rubber loaded and maintain a bank on the Comerio calendars.
  • Help the Comerio Operator start the product in the wind-up system.
  • Monitor and maintain a proper amount of rubber on the mills.
  • Use proper tools such as a designated mill knife and a calender knife.
  • Cut rubber low and away from yourself when breaking it down.
  • Ensure rubber is properly broken down before sending it to the calender.
