About The Position
We are seeking US-based Mandarin and English interpreters for a fully remote role. Interpreters facilitate communication between speakers of the two languages by processing information quickly and accurately while maintaining a professional manner and following established interpretation protocols. The role requires a quiet and secure work environment. Notepads, writing utensils, glossaries, and dictionaries are useful tools. This is a full-time contractor position, with immediate availability to start after onboarding and monthly payments. Depending on location, language testing and a background check may be required.
Requirements
- Fluency in English and Mandarin.
- Based in the US.
- At least 2 years of interpretation experience.
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills to maintain accuracy.
- Ability to render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocols.
- At least 90% English proficiency.
- Steady wired internet connection.
- USB wired headset.
- Windows 10 or Mac.
- Ability to provide a quiet and secure work environment.
Responsibilities
- Answer calls professionally and act according to the interpreter’s code of conduct.
- Be familiar with industry-specific vocabulary, especially healthcare and medical terminology.
- Participate in internal professional training.
- Communicate and report to the team leader.
- Interpret accurately without omissions or additions, and explain cultural concepts when permitted or requested by the client to help avoid miscommunication.
