About The Position

Huntington National Bank (“HNB”) is seeking a Managing Director to originate and execute project financing, structured financing, and debt advisory within the project finance and infrastructure segment. This role is part of a crucial new growth strategy for HNB’s Structured Finance group, offering the opportunity to play a leading role in building and evolving this business. The position requires knowledge leadership in the sector, building new client relationships, and maximizing client income. The Banker is responsible for their own commercial objectives, focusing on revenue delivery, cost management, and loss minimization in a dynamic and demanding environment requiring proactivity, flexibility, and discipline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of client coverage experience in the project finance sector, including selling, originating, and executing traditional lending products, as well as cross-selling more complex capital markets products.
  • Strong understanding of power, renewable, midstream, and infrastructure industry drivers, market dynamics, and industry regulations.
  • Deep client network in the power, energy, and infrastructure sector and established relationships with law firms, engineering firms, and other businesses supporting the industry.
  • Strong financial modeling skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across functional areas to resolve complex issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills which foster teamwork, trust, creativity/innovation, and accountability.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and insightfully.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Leading project finance debt financing across sectors such as power, renewable energy, energy-related assets, midstream, and infrastructure, including Public Private Partnerships (PPP).
  • Originating and executing project finance transactions.
  • Pitching, deal negotiation, financial modeling, liaising with third-party counsel and advisors, debt structuring, equity analysis, investor appraisal, and documentation execution.
  • Acting as lead structuring/execution deal captain for tailored project finance transactions.
  • Originating, structuring, and executing transactions in the role of deal captain.
  • Achieving projected core lending revenues.
  • Building a portfolio of sponsor/developer clients.
  • Playing a leading role in supporting cross-sell targets.
  • Effectively representing HNB in developing and maintaining viable relationships with the desired customer base.
  • Financial reporting and portfolio revenue forecasting.
  • Operational risk management.
  • Account Management: relationship account planning, prospecting, client networking, pipeline management.
  • Execution and Portfolio Management: coordinating with deal specialists, exercising portfolio control, maintaining dialogue with portfolio managers, senior credit officers, and internal risk departments; active portfolio management/financial resource planning.
  • Giving priority to the long-term interests of customers and Huntington.
  • Displaying exemplary behavior and fulfilling an exemplary position concerning the propagation of core values and basic principles of focusing on customers’ interests first.
  • Acting responsibly with regard to identified risks and actively discussing these both within and outside the own domain.
