About The Position

National Jewish Health is seeking an accomplished and strategic Managing Director, Western Region to lead fundraising efforts across the Los Angeles, Chicago and Arizona markets. This leadership role is responsible for directing regional development activities, managing and developing fundraising teams, and advancing philanthropic support through the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors. The ideal candidate is an experienced fundraising leader who excels at building relationships, leading teams and developing strategies that support ambitious fundraising goals. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of recent and related fundraising experience and a minimum of 4 years of leadership experience is required.
  • CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) certification preferred.
  • Additional training in development, philanthropy, nonprofit management, or fundraising strategy is preferred.

  • Master's Degree in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads fundraising activities across multiple regional markets, including major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, endowment, capital and fundraising event initiatives.
  • Manages, develops and mentors regional development staff, providing leadership, guidance and performance oversight.
  • Develops and implements fundraising strategies and goals in partnership with development leadership.
  • Cultivates relationships with donors, trustees, volunteers, physicians and senior administrators to advance philanthropic support.
  • Oversees fundraising operations, including budgets, reporting, prospect management, donor documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Directs fundraising activities in the Los Angeles, Chicago, and Arizona markets, including efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of supporting major gifts, planned giving, capital, endowment, annual, and fundraising event initiatives.
  • Leads and develops staff across multiple regional offices and works closely with trustees, volunteers, physicians, senior administrators, and development colleagues to advance fundraising goals and strengthen donor engagement.
  • Develops and implements strategies to meet fundraising objectives while supporting institutional and campaign priorities.
  • Manages and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources.
  • Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards.
  • Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Develops and implements fundraising goals with the Associate Vice President of Campaign and Western Region, plans, and strategies to meet or exceed revenue objectives within assigned markets.
  • Directs efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of supporting major gifts, planned giving, capital, endowment, annual, and fundraising event initiatives.
  • Cultivates donor relationships through personal visits, telephone outreach, written communication, proposals, and other engagement activities to secure philanthropic support.
  • Researches current and prospective donors to evaluate philanthropic capacity and develop strategies for securing support from new and existing sources.
  • Develops and implements volunteer engagement strategies and recruits, cultivates, and supports trustees, volunteers, and community leaders.
  • Partners with senior administrators, physicians, trustees, volunteers, and development colleagues to identify and advance philanthropic opportunities.
  • Collaborates with communications, events, stewardship, research, and other development-related departments to support fundraising initiatives, donor engagement activities, and campaign efforts.
  • Oversees budgets, reporting, prospect management, donor documentation, compliance, and other fundraising operations within assigned markets.
  • Participates in the planning and execution of campaign activities and other development initiatives in support of institutional fundraising goals.
