About The Position

Ankura Real Estate Advisory (AREA) is seeking a Managing Director to join their team. This role requires deep expertise in real estate valuation, data analytics, technology, and sophisticated analytical methods. The AREA team leverages a unique blend of technical skills, property type and locational expertise, and a proven analytical track record to deliver insightful solutions for client valuation needs. The selected candidate will be responsible for originating, leading, and managing real estate clients, with a focus on the AREA debt practice, including valuation management and mark-to-market loan monitoring. There will also be a drive for expansion into agreed-upon procedures and underwriting work for existing and new clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  • An undergraduate degree from a top academic institution
  • Proven success originating revenue independently through own established contacts
  • The selected candidate must have a proven track record and is expected to be complementary and accretive from a revenue point to the AREA practice immediately.
  • Expertise defining, influencing, and driving change at executive levels and across the broader community of stakeholders
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with complex/sophisticated situations involving senior level stakeholders
  • Able to develop credible recommendations under shortened time constraints and imperfect information
  • Quickly recognizes critical areas requiring analysis and review while understanding the big picture
  • Experience synthesizing complex unstructured information rapidly and applies good business judgment driving quickly to deep insights into possible impacts and solutions
  • Expert written communication skills, self-directed with preparation of client ready document and presentation development
  • Articulate, persuasive, communicator who is adept at handling executive and difficult audiences well including ability to adapt style to audience
  • High energy style, flexible and adaptive, with the ability to work well in a very fast paced environment
  • Ability to adapt to complex client environments and situations
  • Proven track record of effectively planning for and proactively mitigates risks on projects and work streams
  • Ability and willingness to travel is required

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree(s) and applicable professional certification(s) are preferred (MAI, CRE, RICS, Certified General Appraiser, etc.)
  • Masters degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Originating, leading, and managing real estate clients
  • Responsibility for the AREA debt practice, including valuation management and mark to market loan monitoring
  • Drive additional expansion of services into agreed-upon procedures and underwriting work for existing and new clients
