About The Position

The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. Our mission is to inspire and steward meaningful, lasting relationships that elevate engagement and giving to fulfill Emory’s mission to serve humanity. We are currently seeking a Managing Director of Audience Personalization. The Managing Director of Audience Personalization will build and lead Emory Advancement and Alumni Engagement’s audience personalization capability. Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing Intelligence, this leader will develop strategies, frameworks, and operational practices that enable more relevant, timely, and individualized constituent experiences across the advancement lifecycle using data and behavioral insights. Working across marketing, digital experience strategy, storytelling, analytics, technology, and advancement partners, the Director will lead a lead a team responsible for audience personalization. As part of the Marketing Intelligence team, this role will help Emory better understand constituent behavior and needs, deliver more relevant communications, giving opportunities, and experiences, and develop more personalized, data-informed, and human-centered relationships at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and seven years' experience in fundraising, marketing, non-profits, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Determines goals, strategies, and target audiences for solicitations.
  • Oversees annual giving fundraising programs and operational budgets that may include direct mail, donor and volunteer engagement, phone and text solicitation, and digital fundraising (e.g. give day, crowdfunding, email, organic social posts, and paid digital advertising).
  • Maintains training materials, annual giving program guides, and operational procedures for staff.
  • Acts as a strategic partner with Emory's schools and units to identify and implement fundraising campaigns for priority programs.
  • Reviews content development for annual giving programs and solicitations.
  • Ensures messaging is consistent with campaign strategies and customized for segmented audiences.
  • Requests and approves audience data and merge fields for solicitations.
  • Manages annual giving campaign and appeal records in Emory's CRM, analyzes results, and produces reports.
  • Measures and maintains year-over-year campaign and annual giving program analytics.
  • Implements annual giving strategies based on data-driven analyses, industry trends, and innovative pilot tactics.
  • Provides customer service for annual giving inquiries and conducts personal outreach to annual giving donors when needed.
  • Follows annual giving policies and business practices.
  • May manage a board and engage volunteers for annual giving programs.
  • May supervise staff and student interns who implement specific giving programs.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Build and lead Emory’s audience personalization function and develop its long-term vision and roadmap.
  • Develop audience strategies that integrate constituent behavior, engagement history, philanthropic readiness, and institutional priorities.
  • Lead audience personalization planning, constituent journey development, next-best-action strategies, experimentation, and experience optimization.
  • Partner across Advancement Communications and Marketing, Technology and Innovation, and frontline engagement and fundraising to deliver scalable, omnichannel constituent experiences.
  • Evaluate data, emerging technologies, AI predictive models, and automation opportunities to advance personalization and constituent experience.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
