Managing Director, Marketing

Targeted VictoryArlington, VA

About The Position

Targeted Victory is a full-service marketing agency providing optimized outcomes in the digital age. We are made up of fresh thinking, curious minded, supportive, and team oriented individuals. Our clients, including national political and international decision makers, count on our team of top strategists to provide comprehensive solutions and strategic counsel on public affairs, advertising, media planning, fundraising and reputation management. We have collectively raised our clients more than $1.95 billion in online fundraising, managed over $395 million in digital advertising, delivered over 24 billion emails and 7.5 billion text messages, and have sold and fulfilled over 3.5 million units of merchandise. Targeted Victory is the proud recipient of the Washington Post Top Workplaces for 2025, 2023, and 2022, Reed Award for Best Employer in 2022, and the Campaign Tech Award for Best Employer in 2021. We are looking for a seasoned Marketing Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you will be the connective tissue between media strategy and execution — owning campaign planning, trafficking, optimization, and reporting across corporate and political clients. You will work closely with media planners, account managers, product teams, and clients to turn strategy into performance. The ideal candidate brings deep platform expertise, a sharp analytical mindset, and the communication skills to translate data into clear recommendations. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and love complex marketing solutions we want to hear from you.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of hands-on digital marketing experience and operations or paid media experience; or 4-6 years political campaign/agency work.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in core marketing platforms such as Google Ads, DSP’s, Social Platforms, CTV Partners, etc.
  • Translate client objectives and KPIs into clear channel strategies, budget allocations, and audience targeting recommendations
  • Build and present polished media plan decks and flowcharts to internal stakeholders and clients
  • Review in-flight campaign performance data regularly and develop optimization recommendations grounded in data
  • Communicate performance insights and strategic adjustments to clients in a clear, consultative manner
  • Lead monthly and end-of-campaign reporting, synthesizing results into actionable learnings and forward-looking recommendations
  • Maintain and evolve media plan documentation, including budget trackers, flowcharts, and channel-level breakdowns
  • Experience with ad trafficking tools, CRM management, and data platforms
  • Comfortable working in Excel/Google Sheets for pacing, reporting, and data analysis
  • Familiarity with measurement methodologies: brand lift, attribution modeling, conversion tracking
  • Strong understanding of the digital media landscape — how channels work, how they complement each other, and how to allocate budgets effectively across the funnel
  • Ability to read media plans or reports and translate strategy into precise campaign configurations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to present optimization recommendations clearly to both internal teams and clients
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously under deadline pressure
  • Proactive problem-solver who surfaces issues and brings solutions, not just escalations
  • Collaborative team player who can work cross-functionally with planning, creative, analytics, and account teams
  • Intellectual curiosity about platform trends and a desire to continuously improve campaign performance
  • Serve as the strategic liaison between the client and internal execution teams throughout the campaign lifecycle
  • Work closely with creative teams to define ad format requirements, messaging frameworks, and A/B testing priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Agency background with experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously
  • Experience with additional platforms: Amazon DSP, LinkedIn Ads, Pinterest Ads, or Snapchat
  • Exposure to TV/CTV platforms such as Roku OneView, Hulu, or FreeWheel
  • Google Ads or Meta Blueprint certifications
  • Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Google Looker Studio

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end marketing campaigns across all platforms — from planning through launch, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Monitor campaign pacing and performance daily; flag issues and execute optimizations proactively
  • Develop and deliver clear, client-ready optimization recommendations based on performance data
  • Partner with planning and product teams on targeting, creative specifications, and platform selection
  • Build and maintain reporting dashboards; synthesize insights into concise weekly and monthly reports
  • Stay current on platform updates, beta opportunities, and industry trends; share knowledge across the team
  • Support media planning process with platform-specific POVs, and tactical recommendations
