About The Position

Avion Hospitality is seeking a dynamic, visionary Managing Director to lead one of Charleston’s most exciting hospitality transformations — the evolution of a Hyatt Place into the Lowline, JdV by Hyatt, alongside the continued excellence of Hyatt House Charleston Historic District. This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-profile, dual-brand Hyatt complex, featuring over 8,000 square feet of meeting space, a rooftop bar, a lobby golf simulator, and a vibrant, locally inspired food & beverage program at the Lowline. Blending lifestyle-driven creativity with operational precision, the Managing Director will oversee a complex, multi-dimensional operation — shaping both the pre-opening transformation and the long-term success of the asset. This leader will define how the property performs, inspires, and connects with guests, associates, ownership, and the Charleston community for years to come.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive hotel leadership, including multi-property or complex operations experience.
  • Proven success leading lifestyle or luxury hotel openings, repositioning’s, or rebrands.
  • Strong commercial acumen across sales, revenue management, and marketing strategy.
  • Demonstrated financial leadership with full P&L responsibility and consistent results.
  • A hands-on, engaging leadership style that inspires teams and connects with guests.
  • Experience driving F&B programming and local activation strategies.
  • A passion for building cultures where people love to work and guests love to stay.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Transformation & Launch: Direct the renovation, design, and brand conversion of Hyatt Place into a vibrant JdV by Hyatt experience, while maintaining seamless operations at Hyatt House. Build and execute a comprehensive launch strategy spanning brand standards, culture, training, service rituals, and opening activations. Partner closely with ownership and Hyatt leadership to deliver a best-in-class repositioning on time and on vision. Establish and lead structured project governance, including weekly and monthly update calls with ownership, brand partners, and key stakeholders to ensure transparency, alignment, and momentum.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of performance across both hotels — rooms, F&B, sales, events, engineering, finance, and people & culture. Lead a high-performing leadership team, anchored by a Hotel Manager, ensuring seamless coordination across two distinct brands. Deliver exceptional, memorable guest experiences that reflect the individuality of JdV and the comfort-driven ethos of Hyatt House.
  • Drive Performance & Ownership Alignment: Serve as the primary liaison to ownership, delivering clear, data-driven insights on performance, budgets, forecasts, and strategic initiatives. Lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews, ensuring alignment on priorities, risks, and opportunities. Maintain disciplined communication rhythms that build trust, confidence, and long-term partnership.
  • Accelerate Commercial Growth: Lead all revenue-driving disciplines — sales, marketing, revenue management, and strategic partnerships. Optimize business mix across leisure, corporate, group, and extended-stay segments. Maximize the performance of key revenue drivers including meeting space, rooftop bar, and signature F&B experiences. Identify and activate opportunities that elevate both topline performance and brand presence in the market.
  • Elevate People & Culture: Champion a culture rooted in Trust, Transparency, and Results — where creativity, accountability, and ownership thrive. Mentor and develop leaders at all levels, building a strong bench for the future. Foster an environment of recognition, engagement, and high performance.
