About The Position

Facilitates growth for BMO through business development and management of key client relationships. Maintains an outstanding and continuous record of significant revenue generation from sales and syndications. This role acts as an escalation point for complex client issues, using strategic problem-solving to resolve conflicts and maintain strong client relationships. It leads the structuring of high-value, complex deals, and credit approvals, ensuring alignment with client needs. The position manages high-value client portfolios, driving cross-selling, retention, and profitability. It also drives efforts to identify new business opportunities, acquire clients, penetrate markets, and expand the client base by leveraging market insights, competitor analysis, and cross-selling initiatives. The role leads market coverage strategies to expand portfolios, identify opportunities, and align with business goals. It builds and leads interdependent teams that collaborate across functional and operating groups to create the highest value for all stakeholders. Additionally, it attracts, retains, develops and enables the career advancement of top internal talent. The Managing Director builds and maintains strong, long-term relationships with BMO’s high-value and strategic clients, providing advice on financial solutions and ensuring exceptional service and partnership. They work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to define products, solutions and strategies that best fit clients’ needs and fosters a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy, role-modeling BMO values and behaviors in all that they do. Ensures alignment between values and behavior that fosters diversity and inclusion.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Commercial Banking experience, specifically in Relationship Management, Portfolio Management and/or Credit/Underwriting
  • 5+ years of demonstrated success leading a team
  • Expert-level credit skills with extensive experience structuring and underwriting large, complex commercial credits
  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred, with a concentration in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
  • Seasoned expert with extensive industry knowledge, network & connections
  • Technically proficient; viewed as a thought leader for innovation
