About The Position

The Integrated Health Solutions (IHS) practice at Berkeley Research Group (BRG) provides end-to-end advisory support to healthcare providers, payers, investors, and other stakeholders navigating complex strategic, operational, financial, and clinical challenges. Led by seasoned healthcare executives, operators, and clinicians, IHS partners with organizations to drive sustainable performance improvement and long-term growth through strategic growth design, operating model transformation, AI and digital enablement, clinical quality and patient care optimization, and revenue strategy—helping clients build resilient, future-ready healthcare enterprises in an increasingly complex environment. The Data & Analytics team within IHS applies advanced analytics, data engineering, and technology to help healthcare organizations transform their revenue cycle operations. We combine deep revenue cycle domain expertise with quantitative methods to uncover actionable insights, build sustainable analytics capabilities, and drive measurable financial improvement for our clients. The Data & Analytics team is currently seeking a Managing Consultant to join their team. This position requires a highly motivated problem solver with solid analytical ability, strong organizational skills, and a desire to advance within the organization. An individual with an entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to apply creative solutions is a natural fit for this position. The work of a Managing Consultant will involve both execution and oversight of engagement work stream initiatives that may be either qualitative or quantitative in nature, and responsibilities include: design of data analysis, development and presentation of client deliverables, management of existing client relationships, industry research, and expansion of business. Willing to travel (infrequent but up to 20%, depending on project requirements and client expectations) is required for this position.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Revenue Cycle is required and preferably someone already at the Manager level in consulting or in the healthcare industry
  • A Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or equivalent in the areas of analytics, computer science, economics, finance, accounting, statistics, econometrics, public health, engineering, or other practice-related subjects
  • Experience related to leading Denials Avoidance/Prevention and Avoidable Write-Offs initiatives with measurable financial results
  • Experience with process redesign and process improvement
  • Experience working across the entire Revenue Cycle (including Patient Access, HIM/Coding, and Patient Financial Services) for initiatives
  • Cerner Patient Accounting experience is beneficial
  • Proven capability with SQL/Snowflake and Tableau/Power BI is necessary.
  • Knowledge and experience with other analytical software and languages (e.g., Python, R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, MS Access, Alteryx, Databricks) is beneficial.
  • A willingness to expand those capabilities is helpful.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to different audiences, including client executives and internal leadership
  • Candidate must be able to submit verification of his/her legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Performs data collection (quantitative and qualitative), research (industry and subject matter), and analysis utilizing analytic techniques to solve client problems
  • Designs and develops data-driven analytics solutions to support Revenue Cycle initiatives, including denials avoidance, revenue integrity, and process improvement
  • Builds and maintains dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that translate complex analytics into compelling client insights and actionable recommendations
  • Provides expertise in insurance denial protocols and works with the client to recommend data-informed solutions
  • Applies appropriate tools and methodology to assignments; if unavailable, completes research utilizing journals and online tools to move the initiative forward
  • Leads work stream initiatives within engagements, managing both execution and oversight of qualitative and quantitative analyses
  • Manages client relationships at the representative level, adjusting communication based on the role of the individual being addressed
  • Audits practices and own work via data analysis, interviewing, and shadowing to ensure quality, identify inconsistencies, and elevate areas of opportunity or risk
  • Identifies next steps and workarounds on assigned tasks to begin working more independently
  • Mentors and supports the development of junior team members, providing guidance on analytic methods and revenue cycle domain knowledge
  • Participates in a positive team environment and works hard to meet client deadlines and quality expectations
