About The Position

The Managing Attorney oversees the department on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to daily operations of the Practice Group while supporting the Firm’s overall mission. The Managing Attorney role reports directly to the Managing Partner for this department and assists with the impact of client service, morale, administration, growth and integration of the firm and the development of professionals and staff.

  • Ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations.
  • Requires membership in the LA State Bar as an attorney qualified to practice law.
  • Ability to obtain both MS and AL State Bar certifications within a 24 month period.
  • 5-10 years of related experience in the Litigation area.
  • Managing Attorney / Senior Partner level.
  • Five to ten years of prior experience and management experience with the day-to-day operations in a leadership capacity.
  • Managed a team of at least 10 people.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the Firm's mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans.
  • Establish direction and planning toward a strategic direction.
  • Communicate and oversee implementation of approved strategic objectives.
  • Public Relations – Presents a face and voice to the professional regulatory bodies and others.
  • Creates a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, cooperation and collaboration between and among offices and other Practice Groups.
  • Oversee and train the Litigation department and other staff on raising awareness and knowledge of litigated legal matters.
  • Oversee and attend court hearings and conduct written and oral discovery.
  • Oversee and provide guidance to litigate in state and federal court.
  • Ability to communicate with client in a professional yet personal manner.
  • Oversee all billing submissions to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
  • Oversee and conduct legal research quickly and efficiently.
  • Oversee and review title work within 24 - 48 hours of receipt of same, identify the issues and make full recommendations on how to correct them to client.
  • Oversee the cure of title issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide guidance to file all types of actions on behalf of creditors, related to collection and/or curing title defects.
  • Ability to review title examination, pleadings, closing residential documents, foreclosure documents, respond to lender and agent requests.
  • Write, review, and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.
