About The Position

The Los Angeles office of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is looking for an Intern to support the Managing Attorney’s Office (MAO) in the Practice Resources Department. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,200 lawyers located in 16 offices in six countries. The MAO Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience in a law firm environment. We will work around school schedules for interns to be able to work on a part-time, year-round basis. The ideal candidate should have strong computer skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be willing to commit two to three days in office, working a minimum of 15 hours a week, for a yearlong internship. At Willkie, we believe great people are the key to our success. Requirements

  • Must be in the process of completing an associates, undergraduate or similar degree
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to have strong organizational and time management while maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to build interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to commit three to four days consecutively, for a yearlong internship

Responsibilities

  • Support with several routine administrative tasks such as: Type and assemble correspondences and other formal documents
  • Support the MAO team with rotating tasks, deadlines and filings
  • Checking PACER court dockets to maintain and update federal appellate court tracking charts and understanding the appeal process and progression
  • Review daily calendar reports of upcoming deadlines and double check that instructions and updates in Court Alert and Compulaw have been completed
  • Progress to docketing non-date generated pleading items into Court Alert
  • Assist with researching incoming and outgoing attorney case appearance listings to ascertain the need to file any official withdrawal papers
  • Assist in procedures to close actions in Court Alert
  • Running state and federal court docket searches as requested
  • Assist in obtaining Certificates of Good Standing for attorneys from state and federal bars.
  • Assist with ordering court transcripts as requested
  • Provide exceptional administrative support to attorneys and staff while maintaining communication with attorneys and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned
