Hatch currently has an opening Manager, Zero-Emission Bus Infrastructure in our Vancouver, BC office. This position will support bus infrastructure projects such as maintenance facility design, station design, BRT infrastructure, and electric bus charging infrastructure. The position will be responsible for assisting our clients in developing infrastructure plans, and designs associated with transitioning light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles such as municipal fleets and buses to zero emissions technologies. Candidates are not required to have experience in all areas highlighted in this posting. This is an intermediate position requiring 5-10 years of experience. The ideal candidate is a motivated, results-driven professional interested in infrastructure design, zero emissions technologies, environmental issues, managing projects, building business opportunities, developing client relationships, and delivering technical expertise and value to our partners and clients. Being capable of working well with other employees or independently as well as strong oral and written communication skills when interacting with outside vendors and clients is essential for this position. Candidates should be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of quality.

Requirements

BS degree in engineering, with strong preference for an electrical engineer.
10+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience as a lead.
Experience working with local transit agencies such as TransLink and BC Transit.
Experience designing bus facilities, stations or charging infrastructure.
Experience with business development and proposal development for consulting work.
A professional engineering license (P.Eng.).

Nice To Haves

Background in fleet planning, facility and infrastructure design, or related fields is preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage projects related to transitioning infrastructure to zero emissions technologies.
Provide technical expertise to support cross-discipline project teams planning, designing and implementing bus and paratransit solutions for our clients.
Design infrastructure such as bus stops, charging systems, hydrogen fueling stations, and maintenance facilities to support zero emissions fleets.
Work with utilities to assess the impacts of electrifying large fleets.
Complete cost estimates associated with zero emissions transitions.
Serve as subject matter expert on bus and rail fleet planning, vehicles and maintenance infrastructure.
Develop specifications and commercial terms for infrastructure procurements.
Develop cost estimates and life cycle analyses to assess existing bus operations.
Conduct infrastructure assessment and transition studies.
Review technical documents such as design plans and other engineering related deliverables.
Produce quality assurance plans and oversee quality control programs.
Prepare technical documents/reports and present to clients, project teams, etc.
Develop and maintain productive working relationships.
Continuous, effective communication and relationship building with clients in the development and implementation of projects.
