About The Position

The Manager, Workers Compensation and Leave Administration, is responsible for the design, administration, and compliance oversight of all employee leave and workplace injury programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and company policies while delivering consistent, employee-centered experience across LOA and workers’ compensation processes. This position represents a strategic shift to specialized program ownership, with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and process standardization across the organization.

Requirements

  • Administer and oversee all employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, STD/LTD, Personal, military, and state-specific leaves.
  • Lead the interactive process for ADA accommodations, ensuring timely documentation and compliant decision-making.
  • Partner with managers to support return-to-work planning, including transitional duty and fitness-for-duty requirements.
  • Ensure consistency and fairness in leave administration across all locations and employee populations.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of workers’ compensation claims, from intake through resolution, ensuring timely, consistent, and compliant administration.
  • Partner with third-party administrators (TPAs), insurance carriers, and medical providers to drive effective claims management and optimal outcomes.
  • Lead early return-to-work and modified duty programs to minimize lost time and reduce overall claim costs.
  • Analyze injury trends and claims data to identify root causes and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with Safety to align on incident prevention, reporting, and OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
  • Manage complex and litigated claims in partnership with internal and/or external legal counsel.
  • Serve as the primary HR liaison to legal counsel, ensuring alignment on claim strategy, documentation, and case resolution.
  • Evaluate claim exposure and risk, providing recommendations on settlement strategy in collaboration with carriers, TPAs, and counsel.
  • Obtain appropriate internal authorization for settlements, including claim resolution and commutation agreements, in alignment with company financial and legal guidelines.
  • Participate in hearings, mediations, and negotiations as needed, representing the organization’s interests and risk tolerance.
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation and tracking of all claims, including litigated cases and settlement outcomes.
  • Act as the internal lead for all workers’ compensation litigation matters, ensuring coordinated and consistent case management.
  • Direct claim progression and resolution strategy in partnership with legal counsel, carriers, and TPAs.
  • Review and recommend settlement actions based on financial exposure, risk assessment, and organizational guidelines.
  • Secure required internal approvals for settlement authority and ensure proper execution and documentation of agreements.
  • Monitor litigation trends and provide insights to HR and Safety leadership to inform risk reduction and prevention strategies.
  • Partner with legal counsel to ensure workers’ compensation practices align with evolving legal standards, case law, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support legal strategy by maintaining accurate, thorough, and audit-ready documentation for all claims, including litigated matters.
  • Ensure full compliance with FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and applicable state leave laws and workers’ compensation regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and audit-ready records for all LOA and WC cases.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement updates to policies, procedures, and training.
