About The Position

The P WS ADMIN - WILDFIRE STRATEGY Department of the P WILDFIRE STRATEGY Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 management vacancy available. This role, classified as a Manager Supervisor, is responsible for preparing the integrated portfolio of Wildfire Safety Strategy (WSS) mitigation programs and initiatives in collaboration with implementation teams across departments. The position ensures a fully integrated plan that meets internal and external expectations and oversees Hawaiian Electric’s industry benchmarking efforts related to wildfire mitigation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Policy, or related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of industry wildfire mitigation KPIs, performance targets, execution work processes and data.
  • Expert knowledge of T&D portfolio, project, and/or program management.
  • Ability to understand and apply quality metrics, risk management principles, and working knowledge of regulatory processes.
  • Strong understanding of wildfire risk across Hawaiian Electric’s territories, including the regulatory, technical, operational, and public-facing dimensions.
  • Familiarity with capital tracking systems and strategic oversight functions.
  • Execution Oversight: Ability to manage initiative tracking, status reviews, and dashboard reporting.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ability to lead pre-audit, regulatory reporting coordination, and internal controls documentation.
  • Cross-Functional Oversight: Ability to facilitate coordination between strategy, operations, risk, and compliance teams.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel, SharePoint, MS Project; experience with audit tools.
  • Multiple (7+) years of experience in portfolio and program management roles required.
  • Experience with quality, compliance, or risk management roles, preferred.
  • Experience in portfolio tracking, regulatory reporting, and governance facilitation, highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Performs overall WSS update project management activities across involved departments.
  • Prepares the integrated portfolio of WSS mitigation programs and initiatives in collaboration with implementation teams across all involved departments to ensure successful completion of WSS project and program scopes.
  • Develops high level processes to receive timely and accurate progress and performance updates with initiative owners.
  • Develops and manages dashboards that supports monitoring of wildfire related metrics for internal leadership, stakeholder communication, and regulatory reporting.
  • Monitors ongoing project, program, initiative execution relative to WSS objectives in coordination with execution organizations.
  • Provides timely and accurate metric reports, forecasts, and analyses on a monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc basis.
  • Coordinates development and implementation of corrective action plans across teams and escalates unresolved issues to appropriate governance forums for resolution.
  • Oversees development and maintenance of a centralized knowledge management system for WS portfolio and performance activities (plans, reports, models, audits) supported by Portfolio and Performance and Quality leads.
  • Develops Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) framework including roles and responsibilities, expectations, and requirements.
  • Oversees development of quality metrics, standards, and processes based on WSS goals and objectives.
  • Oversees internal review of wildfire mitigation programs, initiatives, and field activities relative to plans and standards and aligned with regulatory expectations through cross-functional stakeholder collaboration and quality management.
  • Oversees and participates in site visits and validates program adherence to the WSS including quality control that ensures work is completed as defined, or with appropriately approved deviations.
  • Oversees coordination of compliance reporting, walkthroughs, and control reviews.
  • Supports wildfire-related regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Oversees maintenance of centralized records and systems (i.e., audit logs, traceability matrices, and corrective action tracking systems) for planning, compliance, and reporting.
  • Participates in lessons learned forums from execution reviews and audits and incorporates findings into annual WSS updates and updated compliance management protocols.
  • Maintains transparent communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding progress and performance (including compliance and quality) of wildfire mitigation programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Supports the development of stakeholder-specific reports and updates on progress and performance (including compliance and quality) of wildfire mitigation programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Supports WS Planning and Risk manager in conducting stakeholder workshops and forums with public agencies, regulators, and the community and leads portfolio and performance related workshops and forums.
  • Leads preparation and review of responses to information requests.
  • Oversees Hawaiian Electric’s industry benchmarking efforts related to wildfire mitigation.
  • Provides portfolio oversight, compliance, and quality subject matter expertise to support enterprise wildfire related training and development programs.
  • Facilitates decision-making at executive-level forums and leads/supports external engagement activities.
  • Leads external engagement activities with public agencies, regulators, and the community.
  • Maintains transparent communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding wildfire risk and strategy activities.
  • Supports development of stakeholder-specific reports and updates on wildfire mitigation progress.
  • Provides wildfire risk and strategy subject matter expertise to support enterprise wildfire related training and development programs.
  • Manages and administers department personnel matters throughout the employment lifecycle including recruitment, development, training, counseling, performance appraisals, compensation/merit increases, recognition, and termination.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.
