About The Position

The Vocational Education Manager supports JCCC’s mission by developing and teaching career-related courses, coordinating and supervising on-campus internships, and providing individualized job coaching for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) enrolled in the CLEAR and CONNECT programs. This role blends classroom instruction with hands-on vocational training to support students in building workplace skills. In addition, the incumbent will actively pursue partnerships within the institution and community to expand vocational opportunities for students and create clear pathways to competitive, integrated employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Education, Human Services, or related field.
  • Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Experience with job coaching, employment services, or supported employment models.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach career-related seminars within the CONNECT and CLEAR programs.
  • Deliver inclusive, engaging, and accessible curriculum aligned with program outcomes.
  • Incorporate Universal Design for Learning (UDL), assistive technology, and experiential learning strategies.
  • Assess student progress through coursework, projects, and skill demonstrations.
  • Recruit, coordinate, and evaluate on-campus internship opportunities.
  • Collaborate with hosting departments to ensure meaningful internship experiences.
  • Provide training, problem-solving, and modeling of support strategies to internship supervisors and departments.
  • Serve as program advisor for second-year CONNECT students.
  • Provide individualized job coaching and implement assistive strategies, including task analysis, scaffolding, and fading supports.
  • Support students in progressing toward competitive, integrated employment.
  • Build and strengthen internal partnerships with CTE programs and campus departments.
  • Develop and maintain external partnerships with vocational rehabilitation agencies, workforce development programs, and initiatives such as Project SEARCH.
  • Serve as liaison between the program, employers, and external agencies to align coursework, internships, and community resources with student career goals.
