About The Position

We are currently looking for a Manager, Vehicle Cost Management to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI. This position will manage a team of 2-4 professional program controllers. The responsibilities listed are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties for this role. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed, to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, or a related field, plus 7+ years of related experience at a professional level.
  • Good understanding of logistics and manufacturing costs.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle costs by each element.
  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will be required to provide proof of employment eligibility at the time of hire; Nissan uses E-Verify to validate employment eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience as a manager or lead analyst preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to senior executive audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, facilitate, and control the current budget and forecast for Purchased Parts, Vendor Tooling, Logistics and Manufacturing for all New Model Car Programs (Minor Model and Full Model Change) in the Americas region during the Product Development Phase --> Start of Production --> Mass Production.
  • Work as part of the Product Development Team to ensure that the vehicle purchased parts, vendor tooling, Logistics and Manufacturing budgets and forecasts are updated periodically (depending on size and strategic importance) to reflect the current design intent, risks and opportunities, commercial issues and other items brought forward by the team.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of program financial conditions to all members of the Product Development Team (Engineering, Purchasing, Program Directors (PMO), Chief Vehicle Engineers, etc.).
  • TdC (Total delivery Cost - COGS+R&D) Actuals tracking to measure the progress of Cost Reduction targets by function.
  • Engage in business case development as necessary and support other functional groups to optimize cost height and profitability.
  • Promote early identification of risks and opportunities to the development programs in an objective and independent manner.
  • Cost Reduction opportunity generation, along with challenging and supporting the implementation of this CR OPP, through the following activities (but not limited to): Internal vehicle & commodity benchmarking, External vehicle & commodity benchmarking, Feature cost analysis to support rightsizing activities.
  • Develop Business Plan for "Minor and Full Model Change", working very closely with Finance, Purchasing, R&D and PMO.
  • Drive consistency and continuous improvement within the country, North America region and globally by documenting procedures, leading cross-functional, or intra-departmental projects.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, support, coaching, and training to the staff and assist in developing objectives and evaluating performance.
  • Ensure compliance with Nissan's procedures, policies, and internal controls.
