Based in New York, NY or Washington, DC, the Manager, Threat Management supports the Global Risk, Safety & Resilience (GRSR) team by delivering intelligence-driven insights that enable the organization to identify, assess, and mitigate threats to Dow Jones personnel, journalists, facilities, and operations. This role serves as a subject-matter expert in threat management and protective intelligence, helping evaluate and mature Dow Jones’ existing threat management capabilities. The Manager will assess current processes, technologies, intelligence sources, monitoring platforms, and investigative workflows to identify capability gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for improvement, and develop recommendations for a more holistic and integrated threat management program. The position focuses on identifying and evaluating threat actors, targeting behaviors, and emerging risk dynamics that may impact Dow Jones employees, journalists, executives, and public-facing activities. This includes threats such as harassment, intimidation, stalking, doxxing, insider risk indicators, extremist activity, civil unrest, and geopolitical developments that may affect personnel, operations, or events. A key responsibility of this role is evaluating and improving the organization’s existing threat intelligence and monitoring ecosystem. The Manager will assess the effectiveness of current intelligence providers, digital monitoring capabilities, GSOC and investigative platforms, and other security technologies, making recommendations on how these capabilities should be integrated, enhanced, or evolved to support a sustainable threat management program. This role is ideal for a technically capable and intellectually curious threat management professional who understands how technology, intelligence, and operational processes can work together to improve threat detection, assessment, and response. The Manager will also identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI-enabled workflows, analytics, and other emerging technologies where they can meaningfully improve the program. The role also supports investigative activities related to threats and security incidents impacting Dow Jones personnel, ensuring emerging threat indicators are appropriately validated, assessed, escalated, and managed. The Manager will work closely with affected individuals and cross-functional partners, requiring strong judgment, discretion, empathy, and emotional intelligence when supporting individuals experiencing threats, harassment, stalking, or other targeted activity.
